I got my hands on this series at a second-hand book sale.  I was literally jumping up and down when I saw them and held them closely as I rummaged through other books. They are the best find ever. I am honestly hoping to find the rest of the books in the series.

Published in 1960, it rounds up an event happened when the author was 10.
